Royals are lucky to have access to numerous resources. Whether for work or leisure, they get to travel to all parts of the world. Taking advantage of this privilege, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently took their family to a summer vacation to a private island in the Caribbean.
Like the family did last year, they opted to fly to Mustique to celebrate their eldest son’s birthday with their two other kids Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The private island has become a sort of favorite holiday destination for Prince William and Middleton’s having gone there many times already.
The couple has even vacationed in the island paradise with Middleton’s parents Michael and Carole and her younger siblings Pippa and James. According to Hello!, the royals have played tennis, went scuba diving and gone snorkeling during their previous trips to Mustique. They’ve also been noted to enjoy some cocktails at the Cotton House resort (pictured above).
One of the perks of visiting Mustique is that the royal family can get some much-needed private time away from the prying eyes of the media and the public due to the island being a no-fly zone. No wonder, Prince William’s late grand-aunt Princess Margaret also loved the little Caribbean hideaway. In fact, she even had her own villa in Mustique which stood on a parcel of land that was a wedding gift she received.
The couple went on their summer holidays after appearing at Wimbledon. The vacation is a sort of tradition with the Duke and Duchess taking a break from their official royal duties during the months of July and August. Their work resumes in September but the couple will reportedly make an exception for the upcoming The King’s Cup sailing regatta which they will be hosting. Not surprising since both of them are reportedly keen on sailing. In fact, the Duchess has even crewed a yacht on a trip around the world during her gap year.
Meanwhile, the royal children also seem to be enjoying their summer vacation. Aside from jetting to Mustique, Prince George is spending the break playing with his sister Princess Charlotte in the Kensington Palace grounds. The young prince is also said to be enjoying some tennis lessons alongside his favorite player Roger Federer.
In the colder seasons, Prince William and Middleton opt to take their brood skiing. Earlier this year, the family went on one once again to take advantage of their kids’ half-term break. The Cambridges have previously gone on a skiing holiday in 2016 in the French village of Courchevel, Les Trois Vallées.
The tradition may have stemmed from Prince William’s own childhood. It can be remembered that Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana have taken the prince and his younger brother Prince Harry on similar trips as young boys.
